Quality of life and Anxiety

Living well is protection against becoming overly anxious. Recent research suggests that experiencing a diminished sense of quality of life is associated with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Individuals living with GAD are less likely to describe themselves as living consistently with their values. They were less likely to act on their beliefs and feel restricted by external forces. People who feel like they live a life that is consistent with their values are more likely to engage in life, be active in their lives, worry less, and less likely to feel sensitive to negative emotions. Treatment for GAD should include asking individuals to self-determine what matters most in their lives, helping individuals find the motivation to take action, and offering questions that would assist with aligning life with what is truly valued.
